The first picture was last week. I thought it was too simple with everything else in my living room so I changed it. Plus, I was dying to incorporate this ornate frame. I considered painting and distressing the old window and candlesticks ($6.50 for the pair), but then in the end I came up with the second grouping. A few minutes after I took the picture I added a transferware plate on the right behind the other things. I like layering. And I don't know if I'm quite done with this yet. You know how it is. Mantels can be moody. Excuse me while I go get some inspiration~ I'm linking to THE NESTER'S mantel party today.
Here is an older scene below.
This is probably about three years ago and I don't even have that leather chair anymore!
This must have been later after some tweaking. I think after a certain favorite plate got knocked off, I had to rethink the whole thing! I don't think I've really taken pictures of ALL my mantle makeovers.
The layering looks nice. I'm never very good at that, but you seem to know what you are doing.
ReplyDeleteGreat mantel, I like it the best with the window and empty frame. I am looking at everyone elses as I wait for my pictures to upload.
ReplyDeleteI love the layering you did. Great job!
ReplyDeleteOh! The window and empty frame give your mantel a super dose of coolness!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your new look. You made me laugh about the tweaking - mantels are fussy or is that us? haha
I liked the layer look too! I liked how you did it first even if it was simple. But I liked them all:D
